Jake Perrine, Orcas Center’s Artistic Director & Technical Director, will teach a Computer Audio class Tuesday evenings 6-8pm in January: 1/7, 14, 21, 28, at Orcas Center.
This class is for anyone who wants to record audio with their computer, but will lean towards music recording topics and techniques. Having a laptop is helpful, but not essential. The cost is $40 for all four sessions. Orcas Center Members receive 10% off. For Students 18 and under, email Jake@OrcasCenter.org for complimentary enrollment.
Topics will include:
-Analogue audio fundamentals: levels, mics, mixers, speakers, cables
-Digital audio fundamentals: bit depth, sample rate, file formats, sound cards, software
-Recording fundamentals: mic choice, placement, rooms, signal chain
-Digital audio editing basics: trims, fades, cuts, sync, effects, mix down
This class will continue with a separate Intro to Ableton Live (making music) class in February. This Computer Audio class (or equivalent) is a prerequisite to that class.
