High School Art Presentation

On display April 15th – May 24th

High School Art Presentation
Friday, May 6th 2022
5:30pm – 7pm
Lobby Gallery & Madrona Room

Join us for an informative talk with Orcas Island High Schoolers as they present their art to the public on Friday, May 6th from 5:30-7pm.

As should be in a stunning place like Orcas Island, the Visual Arts are well established at Orcas Island High School. Progressive course offerings give potential for students to go from beginning to intermediate, to advanced, and all the way to Advanced Placement level. This includes Classical Arts training, photography, and some Digital Design work.  Students often begin freshman year in basic courses with teacher Corey Wiscomb and continue to continue through his curriculum all the way to AP by their senior year. Art from the students very much reflects their youth by being very energetic, passionate, and sometimes right on the precipice of pre-professional achievement before these young artists take their work to the collegiate level. Some works carry the air of youth finding their voice, even if it shakes. Others are simply about the joy of process, creation, and pride in craftsmanship.
