Orcas Center is looking for an Executive Director

Orcas Center is seeking a dynamic Executive Director who will lead the Center into the next chapter of growth and impact. Orcas Center is the premier performing and visual arts venue located on Orcas Island. It has been an integral part of the arts community on the island for almost 40 years. Orcas Center is an arts organization dedicated to theater, music, dance and the visual arts through performances, classes, outreach programs, gallery exhibitions and events. It is a community-based organization whose goal is to ensure access to the arts for all ages and cultural interests. The Executive Director of Orcas Center will be a person who has a background in the arts, strong leadership, vision, administrative and management skills and the qualities of accessibility, openness, and community involvement to represent the Center. Orcas Center is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization.

Summary of Duties
The Executive Director is responsible for the administration of all activities including financial management, donor development and fundraising, staff and volunteer supervision for a diverse range of performance styles and audiences, facility management and public relations. The Executive Director reports to the Board of Trustees, and is responsible for the organization’s achievement of its mission, programs and financial objectives, as well as its adherence to its core principles. Salary range is $90,000 – $105,000 and includes health care and retirement benefits.

Orcas Center is looking for a Customer Service Superstar!

The Orcas Center is seeking a friendly and outgoing Customer Service Representative to lead the day-to-day operations of the Center. This is a part-time position, up to 32 hours weekly, with a daytime schedule of Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from approximately 11am – 3pm, with show support for about 2-4 hours per event (usually Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and some Sundays). We are open to hiring two different part-time candidates (one evening and one daytime) if needed.

The successful candidate is a champion of the arts. They are social, friendly, dependable, resourceful, flexible, organized, highly self-motivated, possess exceptional administrative and communication skills, are tech-savvy enough to pick up on new programs and processes quickly, can meet changing deadlines, and have the ability to predict problems and research solutions independently.

This position’s main role is to function as the primary liaison between Orcas Center and the public-at-large both virtually and at events. Duties include, but will not be limited to:

Customer Support:

Replying to emails, voicemails, and providing information and solutions based on customer needs and Center offerings. This includes updating customer records, helping patrons purchase memberships or tickets, re-assigning seats, processing donations, looking up order history, and answering questions about various events, as well as other customer-centric duties.

Event Support:

Opening and closing the Center when needed, Scheduling and training volunteer ushers for performances using our iPad check-in system, coordinating refreshments for sale during intermission for live events, and maintaining orderliness of common areas for showtimes. Understanding and managing the listening assist system. Distributing flyers and marketing materials. Providing refreshments and needs for visiting artists and performers in accordance with their contract riders, as well as other event-centric duties.

Staff Support:

Other duties may include assisting other staff with projects, design work, event posting, marketing campaigns, rental contracts, and events as needed. Those with more tech-oriented skills (like design, social media, WordPress/website management, copywriting, etc.) will be considered for more hours!

Programs used at Orcas Center:

Arts People for patron management; Google Suite for Business: Drive, Calendar, and Email; Microsoft Suite: Word and Excel; Slack; WordPress; GiveSmart; Canva, Photoshop, and InDesign; Gqueues, and Constant Contact.

Essential Functions:

This position may require standing or sitting for extended periods of time, walking on uneven ground, climbing stairs and ladders, lifting up to 25lbs, and responding to visual and auditory cues.

FSLA:

Part-time up to 32 hours per week, $25/hr. If this position moves to full-time (32-40 hours per week), it will qualify for PTO, Holidays, medical benefits and a 6% retirement contribution after one year of employment.

Schedule:

Each week will be different based on the needs of the Center. Orcas Center generally has events booked about 1-2 months ahead (or more!) so while the schedule may feel inconsistent, it will be fairly predictable. Plan on working events: This includes some weekday evenings, most Friday, and Saturday evenings, and Saturday or Sunday matinees. Currently, our customer services hours are Tue-Thur, 11am-3pm, so availability during that time is essential.
