Classes at Orcas Center

Orcas Center hosts a wide variety of arts-focused classes on-site, and around Orcas Island. Classes range from improv and acting to dance and silks. We are always exploring new and exciting class offerings for kids and adults. Browse our current class lineup by clicking ‘find a class’ below.

Youth Tuition Options

Orcas Center offers tiered tuition pricing for youth classes. Each class is available at four different tuition levels:

Arts Angel: covers 200% of tuition and class cost*
True Cost: covers 100% tuition and class cost
Sponsored A: covers 75% of tuition and class cost
Sponsored B: covers 50% of tuition and class cost

Drop-in not available for youth classes.

For more information, please contact: registrar@orcascenter.org

Adult Tuition Options

Adult class pricing is available in two options:

  • Single class (drop-in) at a rate of $20/class.
  • Pre-purchase multipole classes (Adult Flex Pass) at a rate of $15/class.

Passes are available in increments of 5 classes or 10 classes. Students should bring their receipt of purchase to a class to receive their physical Adult Flex Pass from any teacher.

For more information, please contact: registrar@orcascenter.org

Youth Unlimited Passes

For students looking to take three (3) or more classes, we offer Youth Dance Passes, that include unlimited registration to youth classes in that term for one tuition payment (tiered pricing also available).

For more information, please contact: registrar@orcascenter.org

Performance Division

The Performance Division is now a separate sign up that covers rehearsal time, teacher pay, and costumes for each show that Orcas Dance Collective does on a case by case basis. Pricing is based on the length of the rehearsal schedule and level of production value needed to achieve a production (ie: a class series showcase vs. a full length center stage production).

Registration Process

Registration for all of our programming is run through Ludus, Orcas Center’s Ticketing and Registration System. Descriptions for all classes and performance offerings can be found on Ludus. Click the individual widget of the course you are interested in to read about each class.

Students must be registered for a class prior to its starting date. If a student would like to try a class before committing, they are welcome to try the first class as a trial period before registering. After the trial, the student must be signed up before the next class period begins.

If a class is full, students may join a waitlist. Students and/or families will be notified via email if they or their child has been removed from the waitlist and is able to attend the class.

Handbook

This manual serves as a guide for all of Orcas Center’s educational programming, including all Orcas Dance Collective classes. You can read the handbook on the Orcas Center website under the “classes” tab. This Handbook serves as a guide for the policies, procedures, and essential guidelines followed by all Orcas Center classes and performance programs.

Scholarship

Orcas Center is dedicated to providing accessible arts opportunities for our community, and offers a pay-what-you-can class scholarship program for those families who are in deeper need for financial assistance. To inquire about a pay-what-you-can scholarship, please contact registrar@orcascenter.org.

Orcas Center also offers a selective Volunteer Program that accepts in-kind work trade in exchange for class tuition. Volunteer submissions are approved on a case by case basis depending on scholarship availability and Orcas Center production needs. To inquire about volunteer trade, please contact registrar@orcascenter.org.

Yogalele – breathe, stretch, strum
Thursdays @ 8:30am in the Madrona Room

Yogalele is yoga with ukulele. Yogalele combines peaceful breathing and stretching with calm
plucking and energizing strumming. We use the ukes to set the mood and pace for our breathing
and as a prop, arm extender, or for grounding.
No experience necessary, suitable for all ages and levels, and you don’t even need a ukulele –
non-players love the live music vibration while players felt closer to their instruments and their
music.

Each session begins with a brief review of chords we will play, followed by a series of uke-
accompanied asanas, some with sound, some more internalized. Yogalele works for any level of
player as well as those who don’t play at all, Yogalele is truly for everyone.

Tuition is tiered: $10, $20, $30 per class, or $100 for the entire 9 week run in June / July.
