• James and the Giant Peach, Jr.

    As the culmination of Orcas Center’s summer theatre intensive, a group of young thespians is presenting a production of “Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach, Jr.” It’s a fantastical tale of a boy, his insect friends, and their amazing journey across the ocean on a giant piece of fruit. The musical was adapted for student performance by the educational musical theater firm iTheatrics, under the supervision of Timothy Allen McDonald. It will be performed on Friday, July 31 at 6 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 1, at noon and 6 p.m. at Orcas Center. There is an open dress rehearsal on July 31 at noon.

  • Art Opening: Orcas Artist Studio Tour

    The Visual Arts Committee (VAC) of Orcas Center, and the The Orcas Artist Studio Tour are excited to present the Studio Tour Art Opening on Friday, July 31st from 5:30-7pm.

    Join us in the Madrona Room and Orcas Center Lobby to preview the works of artists participating in this year’s studio tour. This free event features artists working in painting, printmaking, stone cutting, woodwork, blacksmithing, encaustics, ceramics, fiber arts, sculpture, photography, jewelry, and more. There will be complimentary snacks, wine bar, and live music from Madison West.

    Martin Lund, one of the most diverse musicians in the universe, lives and breathes music in many different colors and cultures. He has played with some of the great blues artists of our time and worked in the studios of LA as a composer, arranger, and musician. He is well known for bringing great artists to this island and providing some of the best shows at Orcas Center. This year's line-up includes Jaz Lund, and Murl Allen Sanders, with many more artists to be named soon!
